MEMBER OVERVIEW

Kabalikat para sa Maunlad na Buhay, Inc. was formally registered on 27 November 1986 as a non-stock, non-government development organization. KMBI worked with an initial capitalization of PhP132,000.00 (US$ 6,480.00). During its early operation, KMBI assisted 37 microentrepreneurs through loans and provision of cash management training to 20 microentrepreneurs.

KMBI started expanding its operations in Southern Mindanao in 1999, standardized its structure and system of operations in 2002, further expanded its Mindanao and Luzon operations the next two years. By 2005, KMBI launched its micro-insurance program in response to the growing needs of its clients.

To see people in communities live in abundance with strengthened faith in God and in right relationship with fellowmen and the rest of creation.

Mission:
KMBI is a Christ-centered development organization existing to help transform the lives of its clients and develop its human resources who will provide sustainable microfinance, training and demand-driven non-financial services.

PROGRAMS / SERVICES

Microfinance Products 
1.  General Loan - intended for additional business capital managed of program members (i.e. clients) who are women microentrepreneurs; applies trustbank methodology; community-based program and loans are released in a group of 30 clients

2.  Microinsurance - intended to aid the family of the demised client or to aid the client in the event a family member of a client demise and protect bankruptcy of their enterprises (during these times, clients tend to use their business capital to finance the wake and burial of the demised family member; implemented through partnership with insurance providers 
3.  Capital Build-Up (CBU) - mandatory savings of clients; designed to prepare the clients in the event she resigns from the program; this CBU can be withdrawn only upon resignation from KMBI; KMBI pays interest to clients (+1% of the prevailing savings rate in the banking industry) 
Enterprise Development Service 
1.  Capability building - provision of livelihood training and basic business management capacity intervention towards development of growth-oriented microentrepreneurs 
2.  ENTREP Publications - design to capacitate the clients through educational publications - ENTREP Magazine and ENTREP Life Book; ENTREP Magazine, provided to clients for free twice a year, provides articles related to enhancing the four of some aspects of life such as spiritual, economi, environmental and social; ENTREP Life Book, provided to clients for free in an annual basis, is a compilation of success stories of cleints and staff as they undergo the process of change, also known to KMBI as holistic transformation  
3.  KEY (KMBI Entrepreneur of the Year) Award - an award given to clients of KMBI who have exemplary accomplishments and developments in growing their businesses, who have been good models in the community and trustbank, and other criteria 
4 .  Business Financial Assistance - during anniversary celebration, KMBI chooses through raffle some clients who will be entrusted with large amount of money which they can use as additional business capital; along with the financial assistance, a business consultant is provided to them to help them re-design their existing businesses or design a new one to ensure greater chance of business improvement 
Values Formation 
1.  Microentrepreneurs Summit - institutionalized in 2007, ME Summit is an annual gathering of KMBI clients where plenary sessions are held to educate and capacitate them in different aspects of life (i.e. spiritual, economic, environmental, and social) as well as enhance their values related to the aforesaid aspects 
2.  Weekly Center Meeting - a regular meeting conducted to give practical tips in different scanarios of life like family relationship, nutrition and health, social responsibility, personal development, business management basics, etc.; currently, KMBI uses Fulcrum Book (a proprietary of KMBI) as material for weekly meetings 
3.  Leadership Enhancement and Development (LEaD) Program - the flagship program of KMBI for holistic development of its staff; this program is intended to reenforce branches' efforts in strengthening leadership and forming values; sub-programs include Adopt-a-Branch, Accountability Group, LEaD Camp, Communi-K, Bible for Staff and Clients, Action for Community Empowerment
