Indonesia - Microfinance Country profiles

Acknowledgements

This microfinance country profile results from the work undertaken by the Banking with the Poor Network (BWTP) Secretariat, under the leadership of Pascal Marino, BWTP Program Coordinator and Microenterprise Development program manager at the Foundation for Development Cooperation (FDC)

The Asia Resource Center for Microfinance, Indonesia country profile, is an initiative funded by the Japan Foundation and FDC.

This profile is also the result of a close and productive collaboration between the BWTP Network and its in-country partner, GEMA-PKM, the Indonesian movement for microfinance Development. Its Secretary General, Mr. Bambang Ismawan, also President of Bina Swadaya, has been a leading promoter of microfinance development in Indonesia for the last decades and has also been a major supporter and contributor to its microfinance profile. Mr Riza Primahendra, also collaborating with GEMA-PKM and manager at Bina Swadaya, has provided essential support in preparing and managing the activities that took place in Indonesia.  The author would also like to thank other GEMA-PKM and Bina Swadaya staff members that have assisted him in its work and research in Indonesia.

Finally, we would like to thank all participants to activities conducted in Indonesia, for the contribution they have made to the Asia Resource Center for Microfinance through their papers, presentations and enlightening thoughts. It has been a crucial factor to the relevance of this document and the future development of the Asia Resource Center for Microfinance
