All organisations interested in potential membership in the BWTP Network should submit the Application forms to info@bwtp.org, or by post or fax. Nominations will be forwarded to the BWTP Network Executive Committee for approval. Applications will be processed within 14 days of receipt and successful applicants will be notified in due time.

1. The benefits of the BWTP network

The BWTP network provides members with opportunities to:

  • Opportunities to promote the achievements regionally and internationally through the BWTP Network Newsletter and website;
  • Participation in national and regional program activities conducted by the Network, including meetings and workshops;
  • Discount participation in and contribution to the agenda of Asia Microfinance Forums;
  • Access BWTP Network capacity building workshops and technical exchange program at a discounted rate;
  • Access training and technical assistance as well as targeted value-added services to members;
  • Contact with BWTP Network and Foundation for Development Cooperation global partners, donors, experts;
  • Establishing and strengthening collaborative relationships with other international networks;
  • Publishing and dissemination of member's work, tools and achievements;
  • Opportunities to participate in working group activities that document and disseminate regional best practices;
  • Participation in BWTP Network Governance - up to 6 representatives of members are elected to the BWTP Network Executive Committee and all members are eligible;
  • Use of the BWTP Network name and logo in member organisation publications and letterheads.

2. Member responsibilities

  • Members of the BWTP Network, are expected to work constantly towards achieving the BWTP Network's objectives with an active participation in the network activities;
  • Members are expected to participate in the BWTP Network's conference;
  • Members are responsible for paying their annual fees at rates approved by the Annual General Meeting.

Membership Fees:

An annual payment of US$150 for Microfinance Networks, US$250 for not-for-profit organisations and US$500 for profit organisations.

Membership Eligibility Criteria

All organizations, institutions, NGOs, programs whose missions are consistent with the BWTP Network's mission and objectives as outlined in the BWTP Network Constitution and correspond with the following membership criteria are eligible for membership:

FOR MFIs
  1. Must be and Asian insitution legally registered in their country of operation;
  2. Operating as an MFI for at least three (3) years with a demonstrated commitment to achieving sustainability;
  3. Demonstrates a progressive scale of outreach over a three (3) year period;
  4. The MFI offers innovative and diversified products;
  5. Must be able to submit a clear and effective business plan.
FOR NON-MFIs
  1. Has a proven track record of helping MFIs by providing technical and/or financial assistance or has conducted several activities for the development of the microfinance industry in general;
  2. Committed to actively work with BWTP Network with its programs and projects especially for capacity building for MFIs and information exchange;
  3. Must have established close relationships or partnerships with different stakeholders in microfinance particularly with MFIs, Microfinance Networks and Donors/Funders;
  4. Microfinance Networks must have at least ten (10) active MFI members.
